Piano Tuning

All piano tuning services are provided by a qualified piano technician with over fifteen years of experience.

Piano Tuning

For piano tuning and other services, we cover York, the rest of Yorkshire and often further afield across the north of England.

Tuning your piano involves listening to the frequencies produced by each individual string of each note and making adjustments to the tuning pins accordingly.

It’s standard practice to tune your piano to concert pitch (A440). If the piano has fallen very flat and therefore requires a ‘pitch raise’, it may be necessary to tune the piano twice through in order to achieve a stable and solid tuning.

A piano in a domestic setting should be tuned at least once or twice per year in order to maintain its stability.

If your piano has been neglected for a long time, don’t worry; it is possible, more often than not, to rescue a piano that has suffered through lack of attention.

Pianos in performance or educational establishments will ordinarily require more frequent services than those in domestic settings.
